Allow myself to introduce m-y-s-e-l-f.  If you don’t know what movie that came from than you need to just back away from the keyboard and get off my blog!  Because your not going to understand anything that I ever talk about, not you Jesse, you can stay.  Just kidding, pull up a chair, and your favorite snack and we’ll just talk about getting in shape.  Of coarse were not going to actually put together a plan of action, were not crazy.  This is the United States of America, we get plenty of exercise at work.

Right?

Yeah, if your Mexican.

What?

I capitalized it!

I would be better off blogging about cheeseburgers and snacky cakes, who doesn’t love a good deep fried snack cake.  Unless your my girlfriend, who works out just so that she can eat cheesecake, just kidding baby.

Man, if I keep this up it could be my first, and last blog.  I’m just saying, when did it become so socially acceptable for society to be so fat and lazy.  It seems like the bigger a person gets, the more invisible they become.  Who needs fitness anyway?  Just get the newest virtual video game and pretend to beat up Mike Tyson, or tee off with Tiger.  Whatever you do for Pete sake don’t leave the friendly confines of your living room.  Plus, you can even get some great food delivered straight to your door without taking a single unnecessary step.

We can just take our favorite diet pill and shake till the fat comes off, right?  You know who you are, your steady intake of diet pills, coffee, and cigarettes have been working for years to suppressyour appetite.  Some people need a good smack across the face just to wake up in the mornings, and some get up on their own without any alarm what so  ever.  What’s your alarm?  Is it that little boy in the gas station that looked at his daddy, pointed at you and said “look how big that man is daddy!”  It may be that possible realization that you now have to take insulin shots on a regular basis for your diabetes.  I have never been accused of being a nice personal trainer, nice doesn’t work.

Now for those of you that are still reading, and I have not offended you officially, or maybe I have and you just want to tell me off.  At any rate, theirs a means to an end, my out of shape friend.  Now lets see what we can get accomplished, put down the fork and go!

Ok I don’t care if You want to hear this or not , but here goes anyways.

YOUr post was ok yesterday, if ok is what your going for than be good with that. I have a few tips for you… take them or leave them .. Don’t matter to me.

!. You don’t get people to feel better about them self’s with putting them down. If you help them start out feeling good on the inside they will do what is needed on the outside.

2. Talking about your girlfriend on a post that you hope would like to make money off of doesn’t work either. No one cares about what your girl friends does or doesn’t do… again just my option. It’s your blog , but if you want to let your blog make you some money don’t bring personal shit in to it.

3. You don’t have to be a total ass in your blogs to get your point accross. Sometimes all you need to do is be yourself.

4. If you are trying to motivatie people you are going all about wrong. Most people who over eat or don’t take care of their body or doing it to cover pain. Try working from the outside in and not be such an ass just because someone doesn’t look perfect yet on the outside.

5. You dont have to be a nice or mean trainer,,, Just do what is right and lift someones sprit. Sometimes in life your have to take a back seat to realize how to help someone the most..

Like I said this is just my option… but if your looking to change peoople’s mind’s about fitness… Get to the heart first…

Sugar coating may make you feel warm and fuzzY inside but it sure doesn’t take the fat off. Only living in reality and hard work will do that…

Are we talking about my blog here, or what? I don’t believe that I put anyone down as you put it!!! I simply was telling the truth, I have been doing this for quite some time, and you cant change peoples mind about fitness or anything else once their mind is made. What you can do is help someone take a long hard look at themselves, it is up to the individual on whether or not a change is needed! FITNESS OR ANY OTHER LIFE ALTERING DECISION!

As far as eating goes, I’ve been cutting my portions down and going for low-carb and then I’ve been snacking on sugar-free jello or pudding. I havent gotten aggressive w/the eating yet! but I’m working on it. Um I can tell a difference in my legs already and I’ve lost 8lbs in 3 weeks. My plan is just to do gradual weight loss and not get hung up on weighing everyday. I want to do it the right way this time.Yes I can hula hoop it’s a weighted hula hoop that i use..it’s cool!! Overall I just feel like I’ve set this goal and my mind is made up to see it through and meet that goal.

Don’t go to low on the carbs, your body needs them for energy. Watch your sugar intake, and eat good carbs. Stay away from most simple carbs(except fruits). For now try concentrate on eating complex carbs, and try eating a balanced diet. 50/25/25 ratio will work well for you. 50%carbs,25%,protien,25%fats.

See I just dont know what is what when it comes to that stuff! I know I gotta stay away from sugar cause I have insulin issues already. I’m not diabetic but my body produces too much insulin so it’s sooo hard to lose weight anyway but very very easy to gain it. I’ve heard that I should avoid the breads, pastas, rice, and all that. And I know I need protein so I try to make sure I get that everyday. Thanks for the help I’ve always wanted to consult w/a personal trainer!! It’s just hard to know what steps exactly to take I wish I knew all the specifics and you hear so many different things.

Natalie,
I just gave a Nutrition seminar to a church on the West side last week and presented the 5 Laws of Sound Eating. Law 2 is to eat for what you are about to do not for what you have already done. Meaning eat your CHO rich meals beofre exercising and earlier in the day. Before you eat think “what am I going to be doing within the next 3 hours” if the answer is a lot of activity then increase your CHO for that meal, if the answer is inactivity then go the higher protein route.

Natalie, that is some great advice! Listen to The Shark, where do you think I go when I need some advice. I mean he is MR. Indiana, Oh, and MR. Michigan. Where do you think the pictures on my website came from? Just kidding, he’s better looking than that!!!

Hey I see you’re giving out diet tips, cool! More of that would be great.

The trainer I used to have put me on this regime:
BFast:
High Complex Carbs ie Porridge, Wholemeal toast

MTea:
Some type of carb

Lunch:
Carbs with protein.

ATea:
Virtually no carbs from here on….mainly proteins.
Yoghurt
Cheese

Dinner:
Protein and low carb veg. NO RICE NO PASTA NO POTATOES

Supper if needed:
Strictly protein.

I felt crap on that diet, honestly I did and I didn’t lose any weight. I only have about 4 kilos to lose from my last pregnancy but this with two good workouts a week didn’t help. (I know I need to work out more than that.:/)

What schedule would you recommend? Maybe the above is good but my portions were too big? I’m only 5 foot 1 so my calorie needs are low already and if I cut back too much I get shaky etc.

I’d love some advice.

PS I’m a vegetarian.

Michelle, first of all let me apologize for the terrible advise that you received from your last personal trainer. Some people think just because they excercise on a regular basis that gives them the right to give advice and call themselves a personal trainer.

You have it a little tougher than most being a vegatarian, however you probably have it down by now, depending on how long you haven’t been eating meat. Make sure you are getting in your complete proteins with each meal, supplementation is going to be very helpful being a vegetarian. Their are plenty of soy protein supplements on the market to make life easier for you. Your macro nutrient break down is important, however not like you described from your last encounter with a “trainer”. That will be the last time I call him that, from now on its, “meat head”. You need to try and have a balance to your meals every time that you eat, a balance is going to be around 50% carbs, 25% protien, and 25% fats, give or take a few percent. Calories out is the easy part, check out my upcoming post about calories in…I think it will help you a lot, and just forget everything the “meat head” told you…

Thanks so much for the advice. He (meat head0 was a she.;) lol.

I like the idea of having a balance at each meal so that’s a good start.:) So the 50% carbs thing….are pasta and rice really bad…should it be mainly carbs from veg or bread etc? hmmmm having a hard time forgetting old advice aren’t I. I’ll go check out your calorie posts now. Thanks.:)

I enjoyed your writing style- really great to know!
